• The Southern Arizona Beagle Rescue (SoAZBR) is a charitable, non-profit 501(c)(3) all-volunteer organization dedicated to Beagle and Beagle-mix dog rescue. 
• We actively promote Spay & Neuter programs & the "No-Kill" philosophy.  
• Our education programs provide information on the breed, general animal welfare and helps families who need to rehome their dogs.

SoAZBR President’s Message on Fostering

Spring and summer are upon us and these times stress our resources to the limit.  This time of year adoptions slow, the shelters fill up and our intake increases. 

While SoAZBR always needs fosters, the need becomes critical this time of year.

Why not consider becoming a foster?

Providing foster care is a personal way to contribute to saving homeless pets.  If you’re looking at our website I know you love animals.  I’m sure that you, like all of us at SoAZBR, dream of the day that Southern Arizona no longer euthanizes adoptable dogs.  Fostering is an opportunity for you to personally contribute to that goal!

As you are aware, every day adoptable pets are euthanized simply because shelters are full to overflowing.  Foster homes offer a vital alternative to this sad, but very real, situation.

If you would like to make a difference in the numbers of animals killed annually because there is not sufficient shelter space for them, please consider becoming a foster parent.  Perhaps summer, when your children are out of school, would be a good time to be a foster.  Beagles love kids and kids love beagles.  What an opportunity for your children to learn the responsibility of caring for a pet while enjoying the love and companionship a loving pet offers!

SoAZBR will provide everything needed to make fostering a rewarding experience for you.  We ask that you provide food, shelter and loving care.  We’re there for support and any medical care the foster may need.  We ask for an application and a quick home visit to ensure your home and yard are “beagle proof”.  Bringing your foster to an occasional event to meet a potential adopter is the only other requirement.

Yes, being a foster can be difficult when it’s time to say good-bye to a foster dog.  But the rewards are great.  Imagine that happy wagging tail walking off to his/her forever home!  YOU have made some adoptive family’s house a real home.

 Please!  Save a life, foster a beagle!
